Homeschool & Elective Education Provision (Ages 7–16)

At Qalm Academy, our daytime homeschool provision is designed specifically for families who have chosen elective home education and want structured academic support in a nurturing, faith-conscious environment.

We provide small-group, screen-free learning from 10am–2pm, Monday to Thursday, helping students build confidence, independence and academic strength at their own pace.

A Provision Designed for Home Educated Learners

Our homeschool programme supports students aged 7–16 and is carefully structured to prepare learners for the iGCSE curriculum – a qualification pathway specifically suited to students outside mainstream education.

We focus on the following subjects and enrichment activities:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Faith Club
  • Forest School
  • STEM Club
  • Debating
  • Book Club
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Business & Entrepreneurship Projects

Students progress at a pace appropriate to their age, ability and developmental stage. Older students preparing for examinations receive structured academic guidance, while younger learners build strong foundational understanding through interactive, engaging lessons.

Small Class Sizes. Personalised Attention.

We intentionally keep class sizes small to ensure every child is:

  • Seen
  • Heard
  • Supported
  • Challenged appropriately

We recognise that children develop differently depending on age, maturity and individual learning style. Younger learners may require more movement-based reinforcement and variety, while older students often benefit from longer periods of focused study and independent responsibility.

Our approach adapts to each stage of development.

A Holistic, Screen-Free Learning Environment

Qalm Academy takes a deliberate screen-free approach during teaching hours to reduce digital overstimulation and encourage deeper cognitive engagement.

We believe meaningful learning happens through:

  • Direct teacher interaction
  • Discussion and debate
  • Hands-on activities
  • Writing and problem solving
  • Outdoor learning experiences

This balanced approach promotes focus, retention and genuine understanding rather than passive consumption of information.

A Faith-Conscious Environment

Our provision is built upon strong principles of faith and moral development.

We provide:

  • Dedicated ablution facilities
  • Prayer space for students
  • Structured Faith Club sessions

Our aim is to support students in remaining God-conscious while in our care, developing character alongside academic ability.

Supporting Families Through Flexible Funding

Our homeschool provision may be eligible for government childcare funding schemes, including those available through Universal Credit and other approved childcare channels.

If you are unsure about eligibility, our team can guide you through the available options.
